Innovative Uses of LENA Pro

LENA Pro can be used for a variety of research applications:

• Capture and play back high-quality audio in a .wav format to analyze
• morphology, phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics

• adult-child and child-child interactions

• Generate a pre-segmented file that can be accessed and transcribed via Transcriber, CLAN, and SALT
• Estimate word counts and durations of male and female adult speakers
• Approximate utterance frequency and durations of key child
• Determine durations of male and female adults, other children, television and electronic sounds, overlapping sounds, noise, silence, and distant and unclear sounds
• Access and analyze sound pressure level data (in dB SPL) for all audio signals, including speakers, overlap, noise, silence, television and electronic sounds
