Child Vocalizations Report
A child vocalization is continuous speech spoken by the Key Child that is either surrounded by a break or pause by the child greater than 300 milliseconds or is interrupted by a change in speakers or interfering noise. Cries, vegetative sounds, and other fixed signals are not counted as child vocalizations. Child Vocalizations can be viewed in month, day, hour, and five-minute segments. Percentile Ranks for recordings of 10 hours or longer are provided.
Adult Words Report
As the software processes the recorded audio file, it tracks the number of Adult Words spoken to and in the vicinity of the child during the course of the recording day. Indistinguishable (or fuzzy) speech, or other interfering sounds, such as TV, radio, noise, and overlapping adult speech are not counted. Users can choose month, day, hour and 5-minute segment views. Percentile Ranks for recordings of 10 hours or longer are provided.
Conversational Turns Report
This report provides a count of the total number of conversational interactions the child engages in with an adult. A Conversational Turn is a vocal sound such as a coo, squeal, babble, or word initiated by a child with a subsequent response by an adult within five seconds, or vice versa. Reports are available in monthly, daily, hourly, or five-minute time segments. Overlapping speech segments, coughs, cries, and other vegetative and fixed signals do not contribute to the Conversational Turns count. Percentile ranks for recordings of 10 hours or longer are provided. If a possible language delay is suspected, the purple connector dots will turn yellow in the daily report.
Audio Environment Report
The Audio Environment Report graphically shows the mix of audio components in the home environment, including TV and Electronic Sounds, Meaningful speech, Distant speech, Noise, and Silence/Background. Navigate between time frames: monthly, daily, hourly or 5-minute views. As you roll over each bar, you can see a view-specific breakdown in minutes/seconds and percentage for each audio component.
Composite View Report
This report includes an aggregated view of the Adult Words, Conversational Turns, Child Vocalizations, and Audio Environment Reports. The data from each report are aligned along the same time axis for easy comparison between the reports. As with all reports provided with LENA Pro, users can select one of four time frames: monthly, daily, hourly, or five-minute resolution.
